BROWN CLUB OC WAS HONORED TO HOST DEAN OF ADMISSIONS JIM MILLER SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15 AT SAGE HILL SCHOOL

Summit highlights included:

  • A discussion on the role of the alumni interviewer in the admission process and updates on current admission initiatives.
  • An applicant case study session
  • A Q&A with Dean of Admission James S. Miller ’73

Interesting factoids from the summit:
  • More applications and admissions come from California than from any other state in the Union!
  • It took 215 years for Brown applications to hit the 10,000 mark. It took another 29 years to hit 20,000. It took only  six more years to hit 30,000!
  • Currently over half of Brown admittees matriculate in STEM fields although roughly 1/3 of those graduate in another field.
  • Contrary to myth, interviewer write ups are read - at least twice and up to five times - during the review process. Your interviews count, and your participation as an alumni admissions interviewer is critical to the process.
It's fun, it's important, and it helps the overworked Brown admissions team get a well-rounded profile on the over 30,000 applicants they must screen each year. Please volunteer to help in this process.
