You
and Brown Club OC can help clean up the Back Bay!
Saturday,
May2, 2015, 9 AM – 12 Noon
It’s no secret that most of the trash in Orange
County washes in to Newport’s beautiful Back Bay. Brown Club OC wants to help the
Newport-Irvine Rotary Club keep the Back Bay clean – Guy Harden ‘74 and Tom
Lemire ’69 are already frequent volunteers. This is a great way to spend 3 hrs.
on a Saturday morning enjoying the outdoors and making a difference.
It’s the first Saturday of each month – join us May 2,
2015, 9 AM to 12 Noon. Meet at the Newport Aquatic Center, 1 Whitecliffs Dr.,
Newport Beach, CA – there’s plenty of parking there. Wear clothes that can get
both damp and dirty. Bring family and friends to help!
There are two parts to the cleanup: Some is done on
shore, and some in the water on kayaks. How are your paddling skills? Newport
Aquatic Center and Southwind Kayaks supply some kayaks at no charge, but if you
have your own and can throw it in your car, truck, or van, please bring it.
(We know you were looking for an excuse to go kayaking on Saturday morning, and
here it is.) If you’re not in a kayak, or if you are allergic to paddling, you
can clean up on shore. Water shoes or rubber boots are good footwear, but wear
whatever can get wet..
And by all means – bring sunglasses, a hat, and
sunscreen!
Please come and help. There’s no charge (no pay
either, but you get hot dogs, etc., after), some great folks, and a lot of
positive fun. You’ll be amazed at how much better the world looks after you get
rid of some trash. Let’s show that Brown wants the Back Bay to be a cleaner,
better place.
